ZERO’S HISTORY
In 1967, two cousins Gene Schmidt and David Miele started Zero’s Subs in Virginia Beach on Pacific Ave. The concept originated due to David’s knowledge of hoagie shops in downtown Williamsport Pennsylvania. They wanted to build a local sub shop that offered an alternative approach to fast food. Their approach was simple: hot oven-baked submarine sandwiches, made to order with quality ingredients and a level of service that would become Zero’s Subs’ banner of excellence. In 1968 they were joined by their cousin, Martin Palacios, and then John Schmidt in 1973. They continued to open stores throughout the years in Virginia and then started franchising in 1995.
Zero’s Subs is proud of over 55 years of successful, prosperous business and continues to make changes to reflect the changing times. Our HOT OVEN BAKED SUBS to this day is the tradition that 55 years of customers love.
This story could not have happened without the numerous dedicated staff that joined us as we grew. We will never forget all the staff that helped Zeros to achieve our status in expanding to what Zeros is today! Today we are still expanding locations and will continue for years to come.
